Meet the Team

The Flexible Formative Feedback Project is being run by a team of Student Ambassadors for Learning and Teaching. You can contact the team at f3@sheffield.ac.uk.

Amita Brown
I am a third year Philosophy student at the University of Sheffield and am a SALT for the feedback project this year. I am glad to be working on this project because I believe feedback is such an important aspect of our University education. Since it is one of the main ways we can improve and
develop our skills. It is also the main way for us to have confidence that our work is on the right track. For these reasons this is a project I am very happy to be involved in.

Outside of my Philosophy degree and my SALT job I am also doing an internship working within my department geared towards setting up a service whereby students can apply for work placements offered by Philosophy Alumni. I am also helping organise my department’s undergraduate conference for this year. On the weekends I enjoy going out with my friends, or going for bike rides in the Peaks.

Hello I am a 4th year student studying medicine. As a medical student you find you have less time to enjoy the thrills of being a university student and experience the daily buzz of university. It is for these reasons as well as my passion for learning and teaching, that I was very excited to work on a university wide project alongside the student ambassadors (SALT). Feedback I believe is an integral part of educational development, not just to get the grades but also to inspire you and encourage you to achieve your full potential. Working on the project so far has been fulfilling even in the early stages, and I have enjoyed some of the discussion with the first year students relating to their perceptions of the change in feedback styles between the school university transition.

Outside of my hectic study I enjoy reading, playing my guitar and singing, of which I do plenty of at the University Singers' Society, where you'll find me on a Thursday evening. Also when I get even more time I enjoy travelling, hiking and skiing. I look forward to meeting more of you over the coming weeks to talk about your feedback experiences!

Aoife O'Sullivan
I'm a third year English Literature and Philosophy student. When I haven't got my head in various books I like going to gigs and music festivals, and also like to try playing some guitar and piano myself. I love to socialise and there's nothing that I enjoy more than a good chat with some mates and a cup of tea!

I'm looking forward to working with the rest of the F3 team this year to improve on feedback in the university. It's exciting to know that we can hopefully create a withstanding change that both students and staff will benefit from.

Rhiannon Thorpe
Hi everyone! I'm a third year town planning student and the project lead for the F3 project working as a SALT. I'm so exited to be part of the feedback team as I feel that feedback is one of the most important aspects of university as it enables you to really progress in your studies. I think good feedback correlates to good grades and really allows you to make the most of your learning at university. I'm so excited at the thought of genuinely being able to improve feedback for students at the university and having a positive and lasting impact on the learning experience of current and future students.

Away from SALT and town planning I'm also an ambassador for social sciences which involves encouraging and showing young people what university life is like. I'm also a keen cyclist and really love living in Sheffield for its access to the peak district!

Stuart Walker
I’m a PhD student in the department of Mechanical Engineering. My focus is the wake generated behind tidal turbines, and my work involves using scale model turbines in large water tanks to study this. I really enjoy my work and hope that I can make a meaningful contribution to future energy and climate change mitigation.

I look forward to working hard on the F3 project and I believe we can really make a difference to student feedback. Away from the lab I enjoy lots of outdoor sports, particularly ultra-distance running and adventure racing.

Louise Wisson
I'm a third year Psychology student and aspiring Educational Psychologist. I have joined the Feedback project because I feel the feedback I have received during my time at university hasn't reached my expectations and I hope to change this for future students. In addition, my experiences on this project will directly apply to my graduate job with Teach First.

In my spare time I coach the University Sabrecats Pom Cheerleading squad. I absolutely love being able to choreograph all the routines that you all get to see at the Varsity games. I also enjoy my job as a brand ambassador for TRO experiential marketing company and my bar tending job at Vodka Revolution.
